How to Operate the Fold Down Rear Seats on a 2007 Mazda 6

by Leonardo R. Grabkowski

The 2007 Mazda 6 comes standard with a split-folding rear seat. By folding one or both of the seat sections down, you can increase the amount of room you have your Mazda's trunk for transporting cargo. Learning to operate the folding seat mechanism is simple. The controls are located in your Mazda 6's trunk. You can fold down, and then fold back up the seats with ease.

Step 1

Check for any people or objects sitting on the seat cushion that would prevent it from folding.

Step 2

Open the Mazda 6's trunk. Look on either side of the trunk wall. You'll see a handle on each side of the trunk wall. The handle on the driver's side of the trunk wall folds down the driver's side of the rear seat. The handle on the passenger's side of the trunk wall folds down the passenger's side of the rear seat.

Step 3

Pull one of the handles. The specific section of the seat will immediately fold down. Pull the other handle. It will fold down as well, giving you more room in the trunk.

Open either back door. To fold the rear seat back up to its normal position, grasp the seat and lift it back. Push it back into place firmly. It will snap against the rail. Repeat to fold back up the other section of the rear seat.
