How to Clear the Maintenance Required Light on Dodge Trucks
by Alibaster SmithWhen it's time to get maintenance done on your Dodge truck, a service light indicating that maintenance is required will illuminate. This maintenance light, however, will not go out until or unless you reset the system. Make sure that you perform the required maintenance for the truck prior to shutting off the light. When you're ready to do this, you'll need a special tool, called a diagnostic reset tool, which is available from Dodge (or a Dodge dealership).
Step 1
Pull down the fuse panel cover underneath the steering wheel.
Step 2
Plug the electrical connector on the diagnostic reset tool into the pinned connector on the round pin connector in the fuse panel.
Step 3
Turn the ignition key to the "II" position.
Step 4
Wait for the light on the reset tool to go out. When it does, the service light on your dash should also go out.
Step 5
Remove the reset tool and start the engine to verify that the service light stays off.
Tips
- For specific information about your Dodge truck reset procedure, consult the particular vehicle's manual (see Resources).
