How to Clear Codes on a Sterling Truck
by Alibaster SmithThe check engine lights on a sterling truck will not go off until you reset the diagnostic computer. Service lights warn the driver of service that is needed on the truck, and warn of error codes that would indicate that some component is not functioning normally. After you have finished the maintenance or repaired any broken components, you need to know how to reset the codes. For this, you'll need Sterling's diagnostic reset tool.
Step 1
Remove the fuse panel cover. Pull down on the cover to remove it.
Step 2
Plug the pinned connector on the diagnostic reset tool into the fuse panel input for the reset tool.
Step 3
Turn the ignition key to the "II" position and wait for the light on the tool to stop flashing. When it does, all of the codes will be reset.
