Volkswagens have two dashboard indicator lights that look like exclamation points. They are both located on the odometer, and each one has a different meaning.

Tire Pressure

The yellow exclamation point close to the center of the odometer looks like an exclamation point surrounded by parentheses. This light means you should check your tire pressure. Once you have checked the air in the tires and remedied any issues, push the "Set" button on the dashboard. The light should disappear.

Light Issues

The exclamation point near the upper-right side of the odometer is surrounded by a circle. There are lines coming off of this circle. This light means that you have a bulb out somewhere. Check your headlights, taillights, fog lights and any other bulbs and replace any burnt-out lights.

Warning

If these indicator lights don't go off after you've tried to remedy the problem yourself, take your Volkswagen to a licensed mechanic right away. Driving with faulty lights is not only illegal in most states but dangerous for you and others on the road. Tires with insufficient pressure can burst, especially in hot weather or on the highway.
