The Toyota Rav4 is a 4-wheel drive automobile that is marketed as a Recreational Active Vehicle. As with any other vehicle, the Rav4's tires should be checked once a month even if you don't drive the vehicle often. Proper tire pressure maintenance increases fuel efficiency in your vehicle and offers safer driving conditions for you and your passengers. Tire air pressure is measured in PSI (pound-force per square inch) units. The PSI recommendation can be identified on your tires or in your Rav4 owner's manual.

Step 1

Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn the engine off.

Step 2

Remove the tire valve system cover from your tire.

Step 3

Place the air pressure gauge onto the tire valve stem. Press firmly down onto the air pressure gauge to get a reading. This reading is the tire pressure.

Step 4

Repeat these steps on the remaining three tires.
