The Hummer H3 was the smallest Hummer model available. It was sold between 2005 and 2010 until General Motors discontinued the Hummer lineup. The Change Oil light appears when you are due for an oil and filter change. Ideally, a Hummer or GM dealer resets the system for you. However, you may have to reset it at home if you choose to have your oil changed somewhere else or if you change it yourself. GM does not recommend resetting the system if you haven't changed the H3's oil.

Step 1

Turn the H3's key to "On/Run" with the engine off. Inspect the instrument cluster and find the protruding "Trip" stem.

Step 2

Touch the "Trip" stem until "Oil Life" displays in the instrument cluster window. Wait a few seconds until the window alternates between "Reset" and "Oil Life."

Step 3

Push and hold the "Trip" stem. After about five seconds, you hear three beeps. Turn the key to "Off," remove it, and then reinsert it and start the engine.

Step 4

Verify that the "Change Oil" light is no longer lit up. If it is still lit, repeat the reset process.
