How to Replace a Headlight Bulb in a Honda CR-V
by Editorial TeamIf you've owned your Honda CR-V for a few years, your headlight bulbs may need replacing. As long as you have the correct replacement bulbs in hand, completing the installation should only take a few minutes and won't require any special tools.
Step 1
Shut off the engine, pull the keys out of the ignition and set the parking brake for added safety. Open the hood using the primary and auxiliary hood release latches.
Step 2
Remove the under-hood fuse box from its holder if you're changing the driver's side headlight (2007 and later models only.)
Step 3
Detach the electrical connector by pulling it straight back from the bulb.
Step 4
Pull the tab on the rubber weather seal to remove it from the bulb socket.
Step 5
Unclip the end of the retaining wire and pivot it away from the socket. Extract the old headlight bulb from the socket and dispose of it immediately.
Step 6
Insert the new bulb directly into the socket and clip the retaining wire back into position. Replace the rubber weather seal and attach the electrical connector to the back of the new bulb.
Step 7
Start the engine and switch the headlights on to see if the new bulb works. If it does, replace the under-hood fuse box and close the hood.
Tips
- Make sure your CR-V's headlights are switched off before opening the hood and handling the bulb socket.
