How to Replace the Fuses in a Hyundai Sonata
by Editorial TeamThe Hyundai Sonata was created in 1989 and redesigned in 2006. No matter the trim or year that you own, it's possible to blow a fuse at some time. When this happens, you can easily and quickly replace it with a new fuse with no tools and a few minutes of your time.
Step 1
Turn off your car before you replace a fuse. Find the fuse box, located in the passenger compartment under the dashboard on the left of the driver's side.
Step 2
Remove the fuse box cover and find the location of the fuse you need on the inside of the cover. A 2000 Hyundai Sonata, for instance, houses the dashboard illumination light fuse in slot 24.
Step 3
Pull the fuse out using a fuse puller or your thumb and index finger. Check the fuse to verify it's blown--indicated by a melted or broken wire.
Step 4
Click a new fuse that has the same amperage rating into the slot. In the example of the illumination light fuse in Step 2, the 2000 Hyundai Sonata uses a 10 amp mini fuse.
Step 5
Replace the fuse box cover and restart your car. Test out your new fuse to ensure that it's working properly.
Tips
- There may be spare fuses already in the fuse box, so check there before you purchase a new one.
Things You'll Need
- Fuse puller
- Same rating fuse
