Keyless entry is an important feature to have. Most models (with the exception of the XL and ST) of the 2006 Ford F-150 came standard with remote keyless entry when new. If you have lost your remote or it has broken, you will need to obtain a new remote to program to the F-150. There is no need to pay for an instruction manual to program your remote, it can be done at home for free.

Step 1

Get in your F-150 and shut all the doors.

Step 2

Place your key in the ignition. Examine the ignition cover to find the "On" and "Off" positions, as labeled.

Step 3

Toggle the key back and forth from the "Off" position to the "On" position eight times. Do this quickly and hold the key in the "On" position when you are finished. Listen for the doors to lock and unlock to signal you are in programming mode. If the doors do not lock and unlock, wait 30 seconds and start the procedure over.

Press the "Lock" button on the keyless remote fob. Repeat the procedure to program up to four keyless remote fobs. Turn the key to the "Off" position when finished and wait 20 to 30 seconds for the doors to lock and unlock again.
