How to Fix Power Seats in a Cadillac Escalade

by Contributor

Some owners of 2003 Cadillac Escalades find that their power seat heaters or their memory seat function does not work. In cases like these, logic lockup is usually the culprit and there is a quick remedy.

Step 1

Verify that there's a problem with logic lockup. Hook up a Tech 2 diagnostic tool to your vehicle. Move the seat and note the data on the Tech 2. Non-changing data points to a logic lockup.

Step 2

Locate the instrument panel relay block below the instrument panel's left side near the parking brake. Remove the seat circuit breaker. You will have to do this regardless of whether you are fixing the driver's or passenger's seat.

Step 3

Make sure that the circuit breaker isn't open. Wait half a minute and reinstall the circuit breaker if it's not open.

Step 4

Attempt to adjust the seat.

Step 5

Watch the seat move to your preferred location. Verify the data changes on the Tech 2.

Refer to the diagnostic procedures provided in a service manual to identify the problem if it is not solved with these steps. You may have to replace the Memory Seat Control Module.

Warning

  • Don't try to perform this procedure on vehicles that don't have the memory seat or power heat features.
