How to Remove the Seat of a Harley Sportster
by Chris GillilandMost of a Harley-Davidson Sportster's electrical components and circuitry resides under the seat, making it vital to be able to remove the seat for your motorcycle. The task may appear complicated at first, but getting the seat off of the motorcycle is a quick job once you have done it a few times. A single Phillips screwdriver and a few minutes of your time is all you will need to complete this task.
Step 1
Unscrew the bolt attaching the seat to the rear fender, using a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 2
Grasp the rear of the seat and lift it off of the rear fender.
Step 3
Pull the seat away from the gas tank until the tongue under the front of the seat is freed from the catch slot on the frame.
Step 4
Lift the seat off of the frame and set it aside.
