How to Update a Toyota Sienna Navigation DVD
by Tommy CharlesThe Sienna, like many other Toyota models, can come with a Global Positioning System. With GPS, the user can receive turn-by-turn driving directions. The Sienna's GPS, like other models, requires regular updates in order to remain current. GPS data discs are typically released once a year and include important information such as construction projects and new roads and highways. Updating the Sienna GPS is a straightforward process.
Step 1
Tap the "Menu" button contained within the Sienna's GPS display. Tap the "Map DVD" button. Ensure that the new GPS disc is a newer version by comparing its version number to the number being displayed on-screen.
Step 2
Tap "Load" and then tap "Map." Gently remove the old DVD by grasping its edge with your thumb and forefinger and pulling.
Step 3
Remove the Sienna's new GPS DVD from its case and place it into the GPS unit.
Tips
- Avoid touching the underside of either GPS disc. Smudges caused by oil on the hands will heat when the disc is inserted into the car. While this might not cause immediate problems, it can create reading errors once the car is being driven.
