How to Turn Door Chimes Down on a GMC Sierra

by Thomas West

GMC is a manufacturer of pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and medium duty trucks. The GMC Sierra is a full-sized pickup truck available in two- or four-wheel drive with gasoline or diesel engines. One of the features on the Sierra are door chimes which sound upon entry and exit. They are controlled by the vehicle's radio and are emitted through the driver's door radio speaker. The volume level of the chimes can be adjusted on the face of the radio.

Turn off the radio and turn off the ignition.

Press and hold the button on the radio labeled "6".

Wait for the radio to display the word "NORMAL" on the screen, then release the button.

Listen for three successive chimes to indicate the chime volume has been changed.

  • If the word "LOUD" appears on the radio screen after changing the chime volume level, then the volume was already set to "NORMAL". The only two volume settings are "NORMAL" and "LOUD".
