Most Ford vehicles now come standard with a keyless entry remote control. This allows you to lock and unlock your vehicle doors without actually inserting the key into the door handle. Many Ford vehicles also provide an open trunk feature. However, you can still set off the alarm while attempting to open the power door locks. If this occurs, you need to troubleshoot the power door locks and keyless entry remote on the Ford vehicle.

Step 1

Change out the battery on the keyless entry remote control if the car is not responding to the buttons you press. This is due to the battery dieing. Open the keyless entry remote control with a small, flathead screwdriver then remove the old battery and insert the new CR 2016 replacement battery.

Step 2

Press the "Unlock" button before pushing the "Open Trunk" button or inserting the key into the car. This sets off the alarm on the Ford vehicle. Pushing the unlock button first disables the car alarm.

Step 3

Press the "Unlock" button if the alarm on the car does sound. The unlock button shuts down the alarm.

Step 4

Push the "Unlock" button twice to unlock all doors on Ford vehicles. If you only press the button once the driver's door is the only one to unlock. Pushing the "Lock" button twice primes the alarm on the vehicle while pushing it once locks all the doors.
