Road noise is distracting, irritating and can be a problem, even in a reliable and affordable compact car such as the Honda Civic. Products to reduce the road noise in an automobile are quite popular, and there are many variations which can be used effectively to dampen the vibrations that often cause road noise. Reducing noise in your Honda Civic is fairly simple and can make driving a more pleasant experience.

Step 1

Purchase a sound proofing mat or liner from any automotive parts or an automotive sound store.

Step 2

Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws in the plastic power window inserts and the plastic door handle inserts.

Step 3

Use a flat head screwdriver to pry off both of the inserts and remove them from the car.

Step 4

Unscrew the three screws holding the speaker to the door with a Phillips head screwdriver then remove the speaker.

Step 5

Pry off the door panel starting at the bottom left side and working your way around the perimeter with your hands until the entire door panel can be removed.

Step 6

Place the liner inside the door as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 7

Reattach the door panel by putting it back on the door and applying pressure around the perimeter until it is securely in place.

Step 8

Place the speaker back in its hole and screw the three screws that hold it in place.

Step 9

Place the power window insert and the door handle insert back into place and secure them with the screws you removed earlier.
