How to Take the Seats Out of an HHR
by Shelby WinchellThe Chevrolet Heritage High Roof, or HHR for short, is considered a compact station wagon. The four-door vehicle seats up to five people, two in front and up to three in the back. It also has a trunk area that can be used for storage. Like most vehicles, the HHR comes with the seats pre-installed, but it is possible to take them out if you have the need to do so.
Step 1
Pull out the spare tire cover from the trunk area of the HHR.
Step 2
Locate the three nuts holding the rear storage compartment in place. These will be located near the spare tire.
Step 3
Unscrew nuts using a wrench.
Step 4
Find the seat mounting nuts and bolts. Remove them using an 18mm deep socket and ratchet.
Step 5
Remove the plastic covers from the rear seat cushion. These can be found in front of the seat cushion. Stick the flathead screwdriver under the bottom lip and pull up. A gentle pull should free them.
Step 6
Loosen and remove nuts holding rear seat in place. Repeat process until all nuts have been removed.
Step 7
Pull the seat forward. A gentle tug will cause the seat to pivot towards the back head rest. Keep pulling until seat is dislodged and free to remove from vehicle.
