How to Reset a VW Beetle Airbag Module
by Angelo EliaThe Volkswagen Beetle's numerous safety features include ABS brakes, traction control, and front and side air bags. When the airbags have diagnosed a problem, the airbag module lights up. The light can be reset with a VAG service and airbag reset tool, which can be purchased at most auto parts stores.
Step 1
Shut off the engine. Place the VAG service and airbag reset tool into the Beetle's diagnostic port, by the hood release latch.
Step 2
Press the reset tool's "Select" button until the red and yellow lights light up.
Step 3
Turn on the ignition but do not start the car.
Step 4
Press the tool's "Enter" button for 10 seconds until its lights come on. Turn off the ignition.
