There are two ways to reset the change oil light on a Chevrolet Trailblazer, depending on the model series you own. One resets the light on the Driver's Information Center (DIC) and the other resets the light on the instrument panel. The change oil light is designed to illuminate every three to five thousand miles (depending on driving conditions) to remind the owner that it's time for an oil change.

DIC Reset

Step 1

Turn the ignition key two clicks forward to the accessory power position. This powers the electrical system and illuminates the instrument panel and DIC unit without the engine running.

Step 2

Press the "Fuel Information" button to scroll through the DIC until "Oil Life" is displayed on the digital menu.

Step 3

Press the left arrow button and hold it until the "100%" icon is displayed on the digital menu of the DIC.

Instrument Panel Light Reset

Step 1

Turn the ignition key to the accessory power position.

Step 2

Depress the accelerator pedal fully to the floor three times within a five-second period. Wait for the "Change Oil" light to flash.

Step 3

Turn the ignition to the off position.

Step 4

Start the Trailblazer to ensure that the reset procedure has been accepted. If not, repeat the procedure.
