How to Reset the Maintenance Service Light on a Land Rover LR3by Alibaster Smith
In 2004, Land Rover's marketing people had to make a difficult admission: that its vehicles had historically been built in the grandest of British automotive traditions. Meaning, of course, that they spent a lot of time broken down. The new Land Rover 3, engineered by then-parent-company BMW, was of course an entirely different creature from its British-Leyland-produced predecessors. Still, the "Discovery" name had proven a bit of a liability in America. But even with the Discovery now renamed LR3, one thing remained utterly true: proper, regular maintenance was absolutely critical to longevity. Of course, that's no small investment, if you're paying German-trained Rover mechanics to do every little thing.
Hold down the reset button on the dashboard to reset the LR3's trip counter. Keep holding the reset button down even after the trip counter has cleared.
Turn the ignition key to the "II" position.
Continue holding the reset button for five seconds until a new menu appears on the digital display.
Let go of the reset button and press the reset button again until the option "rst" appears.
Press the reset button again and your maintenance light will reset and shut off.
