How to Silence a Ford Backup Alarm
by James MelzerWhen your Ford truck is preparing to park, shifts into reverse, or the rear bumper is obstructed, a series of warning beeps will sound letting you and others know the truck is backing up. This reverse sensing system is sensitive to add-on's such as trailer hitches and bike racks and can let off a series of false beeps when they are not needed. You can disable the backup alarm in a few seconds.
Step 1
Start the Ford vehicle, and put it in reverse. The backup alarm will begin to sound.
Step 2
Press the "Select/Reset" stem on the center dash controls. Hold it down for a couple of seconds, then release it.
Step 3
Wait four seconds for the "Select/Reset" menu to return to the main screen. The Ford backup alarm is now disabled.
