How to Reset the Camry Anti-Theft System
by David ClairMany Toyota Camry models are equipped with an anti-theft system that disables the stereo when it is activated. The anti-theft system is activated when the stereo is either removed from the Camry or disconnected from the battery. The stereo is unable to be used until it is reset by following the correct procedure to enter the reset code. The code was supplied with the Camry when it was originally purchased. If you no longer have the code, you can obtain it from a Toyota dealer.
Step 1
Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position without starting the engine.
Step 2
Press the power button on the stereo to turn it on.
Step 3
Press and hold the "Up" radio station tune button. Press and hold the "1" radio station preset button at the same time.
Step 4
Release both buttons after "---" is displayed on the stereo.
Step 5
Press the numbered station preset buttons to enter the unlock code. The stereo automatically turns off after the last digit of the code is entered.
Step 6
Press the power button on the radio. The anti-theft system is reset and the radio functions normally.
