How to Reset the Radio After a Battery Replacement in a Ford Freestyle
by David ClairMany models of the Ford Freestyle have a security feature that disables the radio if the power to the radio is interrupted. This function is designed to prevent theft of the radio. Replacing the battery will also trigger the lock mode. The radio can only be reset by entering the security code that came with the Freestyle. If you no longer have the code, contact a Ford dealer to have them provide it for you.
Step 1
Turn the ignition to the "On" position.
Step 2
Press the radio power button to turn it on. Wait for the display to show the word "CODE."
Step 3
Press the radio preset number buttons to enter the code. The radio turns on automatically when the last digit of the code is entered.
