How to Enter a BMW Radio Code
by Alibaster SmithBMWs employ a password protected radio code for their radio systems. This helps to protect the owner from someone stealing the stereo system out of the BMW and using it in their own vehicle. Of course, any time you disconnect the battery in your BMW, you'll have to re-enter the code so that you can use the radio again. Fortunately, BMW provides you with the code and a simple way to reset the radio.
Step 1
Open the hood and check the connection for the battery. Tighten the positive cable clamp retaining nut and then the negative cable clamp retaining nut.
Step 2
Put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition to the "II" position.
Step 3
Turn on the radio power button. The words "CODE" will appear on the BMW's radio screen.
Step 4
Enter the code given to you by your BMW dealer using the numbers on the radio head unit. If you do not have the code, you'll have to call the dealership where you purchased the vehicle and obtain the radio code for your specific BMW.
