How to Reprogram a Mercedes Remote

by Matthew Fortuna

A keyless remote allows easy entry into your car. It has been a popular feature on most modern cars made since the 1990s. The remote, which also allows for locking, unlocking and opening of the trunk, can be programmed or reprogrammed to work with your Mercedes with a few button sequences. Often a remote may stop working or a new one might be necessary, and the reprogramming process for your Mercedes can be done without having to pay a dealer or repair shop.

Place your key in the car's ignition and turn the key two clicks to the "On" position for any Mercedes car.

Press and release the lock button on your Mercedes keyless remote.

Press and hold the unlock button on your remote.

Press the lock button on your remote five times consecutively, while the unlock button is still held, at one or two second intervals.

Release the two buttons and wait five seconds after pressing the lock button for the fifth time. Press either the lock or unlock button once to finish the programming sequence.
