How to Replace a Dodge Ram Headlight Switch
by Gregory CrewsReplacing the headlight switch in a Dodge Ram is a straightforward procedure, and should only take a few minutes to accomplish. The headlight switch controls the headlights as well as the truck's interior lights. The headlight switch is secured into the dash by a screw and a wiring harness. Accessing the switch simply requires removing the plastic bezel that snaps onto the dash.
Step 1
Open the driver door for more room. Locate the headlight switch to the left of the steering wheel on the dash, directly under the air vent.
Step 2
Gently pry off the plastic bezel around the instrument panel that covers the entire driver side of the dash (this piece may crack if pulled to hard). Removing the bezel will expose the screw holding the headlight switch in place.
Step 3
Unscrew the single bot at the bottom of the headlight switch with a socket wrench.
Step 4
Pull the switch away from the dash. Unplug the wiring connector at the back of the switch.
Step 5
Position the new switch close to the dash. Plug the wiring connector to the back of it. The connector will lock in place.
Step 6
Bolt the switch to the dash. Push the trim back onto the dash until it locks in place.
Step 7
Flip the switch to ensure the headlights come on.
