How to Replace the Battery in a Pontiac Remote Control
by Leonardo R. GrabkowskiIn the automotive world, the term "remote control" generally applies to a remote starter; however, it may also refer to a keyless remote (sometimes known as a key fob). If your Pontiac vehicle is equipped with a remote starter, it is within the keyless remote device. The device uses a single battery to unlock the doors and remotely start the engine.
Step 1
Insert a small knife or thin flat-head screwdriver between the remote halves, directly underneath the slot for your key ring.
Step 2
Pry the remote halves apart carefully. Set them down on a table, and then remove the old battery from the remote.
Step 3
Insert the new battery, with the "positive" symbol facing up. Align the remote halves and press them together to snap the remote back together.
