How to Remove a Skid Plate in a Toyota Tundra
by Carl PruitThe skid plate underneath the engine of the Toyota Tundra is designed to protect the oil pan and motor from rocks and debris that can damage the engine. The Toyota Tundra is made to take not only on the road, but off-road as well, where there are many hazards to the undercarriage of the vehicle. Because the skid plate covers the oil filter and plug, it is necessary to remove the plate whenever you need to change the oil. You can save time and money by removing the skid plate yourself.
Step 1
Drive the Toyota Tundra onto a level surface and set the parking brake. Locate the skid plate underneath the engine.
Step 2
Unfasten the eight bolts that secure the skid plate to the bottom of the engine with a socket wrench.
Step 3
Remove the skid plate from underneath the Toyota Tundra engine and set it out of the way.
