How to Remove the Second Row of Captain's Chairs in a Yukon XL
by Gregory CrewsRemoving the second row of Captain's chairs in a GMC Yukon XL is necessary to make additional room inside the sport utility vehicle. The Captain's chairs are held in place by bolts in the floorboard. Lifting the seats out of the truck may be challenging because they are bulky and heavy.
Step 1
Open the side door for easy access to the bottom of the seat. This will make removal easier when the bolts are removed.
Step 2
Locate the four bolts around the base of the seat. They will be located at each corner.
Step 3
Unscrew the four bolts with a socket wrench. Place the bolts in a safe place for later use.
Step 4
Tilt the seat forward to disconnect the wiring. Squeeze the tabs together on the electrical connector and separate.
Step 5
Pull the seat out of the truck. Some assistance may be required.
Step 6
Repeat to remove the other seat on the second row.
