Mercruiser 6.2 Oil Capacity
by Andrew CohenMerCruisers are inboard engines produced by marine engine company Mercury Marine. The Mercruiser 6.2 MPI is a 320 horsepower inboard engine. This engine can be installed on many boats and comes with many transmission options to fit any application.
Oil Capacity
The Mercruiser 6.2 MPI has an oil tank that holds up to 5.5 U.S. quarts of oil. Mercury Marine recommends that owners use SAE 20W-40 MerCruiser full synthetic engine oil.
Considerations
The 6.2 MPI comes with Mercruiser's engine guardian system. This system helps to prevent against problems associated with low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, transmission temperature and low sea water pressure.
History
Mercruisers were first released in 1961 at the Chicago Boat Show. These engines were revolutionary because they were the first inboard engines that offered over 100 horsepower.
