The 1987 Kawasaki Bayou 300 is a two-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with front and rear cargo racks. Produced by Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki, this ATV features a 290 cc engine, electric start, classic fuel gauge and low maintenance costs. Known for safety and stability, the Bayou 300 offers dependable shaft drive that transfers power to the rear wheels for tight turns, and a "locked position" for optimal two-wheel traction. This four-wheel quad is available in Aztec red or Hunter green.


The Bayou 300 had an overall length of 75.2 inches, height of 41.9 inches and width of 43.9 inches. The Bayou 300 had a ground clearance of 7.7 inches and a wheelbase of 47.6 inches. The dry weight of the 1987 Bayou 300 was 498 lbs. The fuel capacity was 2.4 gallons and the oil capacity was 1.8 quarts.

Engine and Transmission

The Bayou 300 had a 290 cc air-cooled four-stroke engine with a single overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder.The bore and stroke was 2.99 inches by 2.52 inches and the compression ratio was 8.6-to-1. The Bayou 300 featured a five-speed forward plus reverse, constant mesh, return shift transmission. The fuel system was a Keihin CVK32 carburetor.

Brakes and Tires

The Bayou 300 had a 22 by 9-10 tubeless tire on the front and a 24 by 11-10 tubeless tire on the rear. The ATV had a dual hydraulic disc brake system on the front and sealed drum brakes on the rear.
