How to Check Transmission Fluid on a Lexus ES300by Grant D. McKenzie
The Lexus ES300 is an earlier version of the ES350. The last ES300 was the 2002 model. The Lexus owner's manual recommends checking the transmission fluid every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first, and changing the transmission fluid every 24,000 miles or 2 years. Should you need to add transmission fluid, according to the Lexus owner's manual, use Dexron(R) III or Type F automatic transmission fluid.
Open the hood and locate the transmission dipstick. It is in front of the engine on the left side, just behind the radiator cap.
Pull the ring on top of the dipstick to remove it from its tube. Wipe it off with the paper towel and replace it. This will ensure an accurate reading.
Remove the dipstick again an look at the markings at the tip. If the fluid on the stick is below the full line, add more transmission fluid.
Repeat this procedure until the fluid reaches the correct level on the dipstick.
