How do I Unhook the Alarm in My 2001 Ford Taurus?
by Ashton DaigleThe alarm on your 2001 Ford Taurus is a very good safeguard to have because it deters theft of both valuables inside your vehicle, or the vehicle itself. However, there may come a time when you need to disable your alarm. The most direct way to do this is to disconnect the alarm module itself, which is located on the underside of your dashboard. Disabling the alarm will only take you minutes and does not require many tools.
Step 1
Remove the negative battery cable with your socket set. This will prevent you from accidentally triggering your alarm while disconnecting it.
Step 2
Open your driver's door and look below your dash board on the right hand side of your steering wheel. There, behind the fuse panel you will see a small gray box with the Ford logo on it. This is your alarm's control module.
Step 3
Depress the two tabs on the side of the connector that plugs into the module and pull it free. This will disable your alarm.
Step 4
Replace your negative battery cable and close your hood.
