How to Unlock a Dodge Ram 1500

by Rich Finzer

To prevent car theft and vandalism, Dodge strongly recommends that you lock your Ram 1500 pickup when it is parked and not in use. When the time arrives to travel somewhere, it's a very simple matter to unlock your Dodge Ram and proceed to your destination. Best of all, you will only need one thing, your ignition key, which you already have.

Insert the ignition key into any door lock on your Dodge Ram 1500.

Turn the key approximately 1/4 turn counterclockwise. You will feel the key engaging the cylinders in the door lock.

Observe as the interior lock post rises to the open position.

Withdraw the ignition key from the door lock.

Open the door on your Dodge Ram 1500.

  • check If the door lock is sticky, Dodge recommends applying a thin coat of Mopar Lubriplate to the key before you make further attempts to unlock the door. In addition, a remote entry device might fail to unlock a door if the battery is weak or dead or there's a problem with the device, but the ignition key will never fail you.
