How to Reset Your Karr Keyless Remote

by Megan Mattingly-Arthur

Founded in 1988, Karr Security is a leading producer of stock and aftermarket vehicle security and keyless entry systems. Karr security and keyless entry systems allow you to lock or unlock the doors of your vehicle by pressing a button on a small remote; the remote also includes a "Panic" button for emergencies. After repairing or troubleshooting you can reset your Karr keyless remote in just a few minutes.

Insert the key in the ignition cylinder of your vehicle. Turn the ignition to the "On" position without cranking the engine.

Locate the "Valet" switch under the driver's-side dashboard panel. Toggle the "Valet" switch from "On" to "Off" three times, so that you've had the key in both positions three times, ending in "Off." A horn or chime will sound to indicate that you have accessed the vehicle's keyless entry programming mode.

Press and hold the center button on the Karr keyless entry remote for three to five seconds, and then release it.

Flip the "Valet" switch "On" and "Off" again. Wait for a horn or chime to sound twice before proceeding.

Press and hold the far-right button on the Karr keyless entry remote for three to five seconds; release the button.

Turn the ignition "Off" and remove the key from the vehicle's ignition cylinder.

Tip

  • Repeat the process to reset a second Karr keyless entry remote to your vehicle.

Warning

  • The instructions to reset Karr keyless remotes may vary by remote model. Contact a Karr automotive security systems dealer near you for model-specific resetting instructions.
