How to Replace a Brake Light on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

by Christian Killian

The 2005 Chrysler Crossfire is equipped with a 3.2-liter V-6 engine. 2005 was the first year that Chrysler introduced the Roadster and SRT-6 models. Manufactured in Germany, the 2005 Crossfire contains many design features taken from the Mercedes-Benz SLK model. When you notice a brake light failure on your Crossfire, you can change it at home to save the cost of a repair center. The 12/5W bulb is readily available through the Chrysler dealer or most auto parts stores.

Step 1

Open the rear lift gate on your Crossfire and locate the access panel in the trim panel. Remove the access panel by carefully prying it off with a small screwdriver, and set it aside.

Step 2

Locate the bulb socket inside the access hole. Grasp the socket and turn it counterclockwise until it unlocks from the taillight assembly. Pull the bulb out of the socket and discard it.

Step 3

Insert a new 21/5W bulb into the socket, making sure it seats completely. Insert the bulb socket into the rear of the taillight assembly and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.

Step 4

Replace the access cover on the trim panel. Push it in until it snaps in securely.
