The Dakota is a popular mid-size truck sold under Chrysler's Dodge brand. It only takes a few minutes to remove the tail light assembly from your Dodge Dakota. The only tool you need is a torx screwdriver. These instructions will also apply to the full-size Dodge Ram.
Step 1
Pop the hood and use the pliers to disconnect the negative battery (-) cable. Loosen the nut from the base of the cable (where it attaches to the battery) and pull the cable off the terminal.
Step 2
Fully open the Dakota's tailgate. Locate the 2 torx screws on each side of the bed.
Step 3
Use the torx screwdriver to remove the screws. Keep them in a safe place for later installation.
Step 4
Pull the tail light assembly from the Dakota.
Step 5
Twist the lamp modules 1/4 turn counterclockwise to disconnect the assembly from the wiring.
Tips
- Remove the bulbs or cover them if you plan on leaving them exposed for more than a few minutes.
Things You'll Need
