How to Remove Steering Column Covers
by Alibaster SmithSteering column covers protect the wiring on the steering column that runs to the turn signal, headlight and cruise control switches. To access these switches, you'll need to remove the cover on your vehicle. Most covers are held to the column with retaining clips and screws. The exact procedure for removal will vary depending on your vehicle.
Step 1
Remove the screws on either side of the steering column that hold the cover to the column.
Step 2
Remove the screws underneath the steering column that hold the cover to the column.
Step 3
Pull the bottom half of the column down to remove it. You will need to pull pretty hard to free the retaining clips on the sides of the steering column cover.
Step 4
Pull the top half of the cover up to remove it.
