by Nichole Liandi

Removing the door panel of your Nissan Xterra will let you avoid costly trips to the shop or a mechanic if you're going to replace speakers, or if you need to check on power door lock or window that's gone off of the tracks. With a few simple tools, you can do the job yourself in only a few minutes.

Step 1

Pry the trim off the door release cup with your panel tool. Then pry off the screw cover beneath the door pull and undo the single Phillips screw that is revealed.

Step 2

Use your panel tool to pry up the arrest and remove one exposed Phillips screw.

Step 3

Pry up the panel for the power switches with your panel tool. Disconnect the wiring plugs that are connected to it and then remove the panel.

Step 4

Unscrew and remove the Phillips screw that was exposed by your removal of the panel.

Step 5

Pry out the bottom and sides of the door panel with your panel tool.

Lift the panel straight up and remove it from the door.
