How to Program a GS300 Garage Opener
by Rob HarrisThe Lexus GS300 is a luxury sedan that features a HomeLink remote control installed on the bottom side of the rear-view mirror. You can program this remote to control up to three devices, including your garage door. The programming process is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete.
Step 1
Find the hand-held garage-door opening device that came with your garage-door opener. This is the one many people attach to their visors. Hold the hand-held remote close to the bottom of your rear-view mirror and point it toward the mirror.
Step 2
Press and hold one of the three HomeLink buttons under your rear-view mirror while holding the button on the hand-held remote control. Watch the HomeLink indicator light as it flashes slowly. When the light begins to flash faster, release both buttons.
Step 3
Test the HomeLink button by pressing it once. If the garage door opens, your programming is complete. If it does not open, your garage-door opener may be a rolling-code device.
Step 4
Ask an assistant to climb a ladder in order to see the back of your rolling-code garage-door opener. The assistant will locate, press and release the "Learn" or "Smart" button on the unit, usually located near the hanging antenna wire.
Step 5
Press and hold for two seconds the HomeLink button you trained in Step 2, then release. Repeat this step two more times. You have 30 seconds from the time your assistant presses the "Learn" or "Smart" button to start this process.
Step 6
Press the trained HomeLink button to ensure the button opens your garage door.
