How to Open the Convertible Roof on a Volvo C70
by William PullmanWhen the sun is shining and the air is warm, there are few things that are more fun than driving in a convertible. The Volvo C70 is a coupe convertible with an automatic retractable roof. Because the roof is automatic, you don't even need to get out of your car.
Step 1
Remove all objects from the roof and the trunk area, and make sure the car is on a level surface. There should be at least 6 feet of clearance to any overhead objects, and everyone should stand clear of the car to avoid injury. Make sure the trunk is closed.
Step 2
Turn on the car. Press down on the brake pedal.
Step 3
Press and hold the right button on the console in the middle of the car until "Roof Open" appears in the display. The roof will automatically retract into the back of the car. You can now remove your foot from the brake pedal and turn off the car.
Step 4
Close the roof by following Steps 1 and 2 and pressing the left button on the console until "Roof Closed" appears in the display. The roof will automatically close. Then you can take your foot off the brake and shut off the car.

Tips
- If the car's windows are fully up, they will automatically lower a few inches while the roof is retracting. They will return to their previous position once the roof is secure.
