How to Open a Locked Miata Trunk

However, there are a couple of other methods you can use to unlock the car's trunk. The Miata has been sold since the 1990 model year. It was redesigned in 1999 and again in 2006. According to the Guiness Book of World Records, it is the best selling roadster of all time.
Step 1
Locate the trunk keyhole on the right side of the trunk. Insert the key into the hole and turn it to the left. The Miata's trunk will unlock. Lift the trunk lid to open it.
Step 2
Inspect the area slightly left of center beneath the Miata's steering wheel, next to the hood release. Here you'll find the trunk release button. The icon shows a car with an open trunk. Push the button. The trunk will pop open. In 1990 to 2005 Miata cars, the trunk release button is located inside the center console. Open the lid to find it.
Step 3
Press and hold the "Trunk" button on your keyless entry remote for about two seconds. The Miata's trunk will pop open.
