How to Light an RV Oven

by Robert Raphael

Keeping and maintaining a recreational vehicle can be challenging. While making sure that you have all the equipment and appliances needed inside your RV, you also have to make sure that they are fully functional and dependable. Of course, any item would be deemed useless if you do not know how to operate them. RV ovens may seem like an ordinary kitchen appliance, but you need to know the right way to use and light it. Lighting an RV oven is easy, provided that you are familiar with its parts and what their functions are.

Step 1

Clean the RV oven prior to lighting it. Some ovens may fail to work properly if congested with dirt and food residue. Wipe its surface with dry cloth to get rid of any dust or tiny debris.

Step 2

Turn the propane gas on that runs to the oven. Raise the stove top on top of your oven and locate the pilot light.

Step 3

Push the pilot light's control as you hold a lit match right over your pilot light hole. Make sure that you are holding the control correctly at the same time.

Step 4

Hold the control button for at least 30 to 45 seconds once lit to make sure that the pilot light stays on.

Step 5

Locate your pilot burner in the oven and turn the thermostat to your pilot position.

Step 6

Light the oven pilot and set the thermostat according to your desired temperature.
