by Sam Grover

The Isuzu FTR is a commercial-level truck designed to haul large amounts of goods. It is available used in October 2010 for around $30,000, while new models are quoted by individual dealers depending on your business's needs and financing capabilities.

Engine

Like most commercial trucks, the Isuzu FTR runs on diesel fuel. It burns this fuel in a six-cylinder, inter-cooled engine that displaces a total of 7.8 liters of combined diesel and air. It can produce a maximum of 215 horsepower at 2,200 revolutions per minute and 560 foot-pounds of torque at 1,450 revolutions per minute.

Dimension and Appearance

The Isuzu FTR has an extended cab with space for the driver to carry out paperwork and other administrative functions. It is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide, and its fuel tank can hold 50 gallons of diesel. The truck weighs around 26,000 pounds.

The doors are swing doors, and the engine is accessed through a drop-down panel. The steering wheel is telescopic with adjustable tilt.

Other Specs

The Isuzu FTR comes with an automatic five-speed transmission or a manual six-speed transmission. It uses a hydraulic split braking system, a 10,000-pound tapered leaf suspension on the front wheels and a 19,000-pound multi-leaf suspension system on the rear wheels.
