How to Disable a Nissan Alarm
by Patrick NelsonNissan vehicles can have two types of security system. They commonly have an alarm and an immobilizer system. The alarm provides visual and audible alarm signals when someone breaks in, or simply opens the doors or trunk when the system is enabled. Nissan systems are not motion detection types. The Nissan alarms aren't triggered by vehicle movement or vibration. The immobilizer system functions through the use of a registered key. They are two distinct systems.
Step 1
Enable the alarm. Close all the windows; remove the key from the ignition switch; close and lock the trunk lid and all the doors. You can use the keychain remote control to set the alarm--just press the locked padlock icon.
Step 2
Listen for the indicator that the doors are locked. The hazard lights will flash and the horn will sound. The system will arm itself 30 seconds after the locked padlock icon button is pressed.
Step 3
Disable the alarm. Unlock the driver's door or the trunk lid with the key.
Step 4
Or, disable the alarm by pressing the unlock button--the unlocked padlock icon--on the keychain remote.
Warnings
- The alarm will sound (when it is enabled) by opening the door or trunk lid without using the key or keychain remote. Even opening the doors with the door inside lock switch will set off the alarm.
