My Chrysler Sebring Convertible Top Won't Go Up
by Leonardo R. GrabkowskiThe Chrysler Sebring's convertible top is power operated. Because the convertible top system contains so many complicated parts, Chrysler recommends bringing the Sebring to an authorized Chrysler service center immediately if the top will not raise. However, you may be in a situation where you need to raise it but it will not go up. This could include being faced with oncoming hail or rain. Fortunately, the Sebring has a built-in emergency bypass feature that allows you to raise the top if it will not raise itself the normal way.
Step 1
Sit the Sebring's driver's-side seat. Pull up the car's emergency brake lever for safety.
Step 2
Find the "Top Up" button to the left of the steering wheel. This is the same button used to raise the top when it's operating correctly.
Step 3
Tap the "Top Up" button five times within two seconds. The procedure must be done quickly to work.
Step 4
Wait approximately 30 seconds. The top will begin to raise itself using the emergency bypass system. If you notice that the top is being damaged as it is raised, quickly push the "Top Down" button to cancel the operation.
Step 5
Contact your Chrysler dealer immediately for assistance. Do not drive the Sebring faster than 40 miles per hour. This will damage the top if it has been raise using the emergency bypass feature, according to the owner's manual.
