How to Change the Tail Lights on a 2007 Buick Lucerne
by Allen MooreChanging taillight bulbs on a 2007 Buick Lucerne sounds easy, but may prove harder than you think, if you are unsure of how to do it. The back portions of the tail lamp assemblies are covered with trim in the rear of the trunk, to give the trunk’s interior a nice, clean appearance. Once you move the trim out of the way, however, replacing the burned out bulb is a snap. Consult your Lucerne’s specific owner’s manual for bulb type before you purchase the replacement.
Step 1
Open the trunk and look to the back wall, directly in front of the tail lamp with the burned out bulb.
Step 2
Loosen the three trim knobs located in that area by turning them counter clockwise. They are nothing more than a knob threaded onto a stud.
Step 3
Pull the trim panel away from the back of the tail lamp assembly by hand so that you can reach the light socket protruding from the back of the lamp.
Step 4
Turn the socket one-quarter turn counterclockwise until the socket retaining clips are free of the socket retaining ring in the lamp and then pull the socket out of the lamp assembly.
Step 5
Pull the old bulb out and install the new one by pushing it into place in the socket. Reinsert the socket and turn it back one-quarter turn clockwise. Push the trim back in place and reinstall the three trim knobs by screwing them back down onto the studs.
