How to Change the Low Beam Headlight in A Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata has a composite headlight assembly. One bulb is for high beams and the other is for low beams. The low beams are located below the high beams in the headlight assembly. Fortunately, there are no special tools needed to replace this bulb and the entire job shouldn't take you more than a few minutes. The main difficulty is ensuring that you do not drop the bulb or break a clip while you work.
Step 1
Turn off your Hyundai Sonata and prop open the hood.
Step 2
Depress the tabs on either side of the wiring harness on the rear of the headlight assembly and pull it off.
Step 3
Depress the tab on top of the weather cover and pull it free from the headlight assembly.
Step 4
Depress the tabs on the locking ring that holds the bulb to the socket. Pull the locking ring off the socket and then pull the bulb directly out of the socket too.
Step 5
Insert the new bulb into the socket, mount the locking ring, place the socket back into the housing assembly and reattach the cover and wiring harness.
