How to Get the Value of a Used Dump Truck
by Alan Temple
You may be looking to sell a dump truck; you may be looking to buy one--either way it is a difficult task if you have no idea how to price the vehicle. You have to take into account the age, quality and condition of the truck, whilst also considering that it is a commercial vehicle so it will be worth a decent amount of money. Thankfully there are a few steps you can take to give yourself a better idea how much you should be buying--or selling--a used dump truck for.
Step 1
Type in search terms such as: "used dump trucks" or "used dump truck pricing" into the main search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. This will bring up a myriad of results which will give you a reference point for your dump truck
Step 2
Visit commercial trucks shopping sites like Trucker, Commercial Truck Trader and Cottrell Dump Trucks (see resources) which offer used dump trucks for sale on their websites. Compare these models to yours to get an idea of the value of your dump truck.
Step 3
Visit construction related websites; especially the forum areas which many of these sites have. You may find topics relating to dump truck pricing--perhaps even the specific model you are looking to price.
Step 4
Search online auction sites for examples of the truck you are trying to price. Often these sites may be selling for a lower-than-normal price, but it provides a useful reference point, and can help you in your negotiations if you are trying to price a used dump truck with a view to buying it.
