How to Unlock a 2000 Ford Taurus Using a Slim Jim

Locking your keys inside your 2000 Ford Taurus can definitely be problematic. However, the use of a Slim Jim can help you open your car door with a little effort. A Slim Jim is a tool made of a flat piece of metal with a notched end, and is specifically used to unlock car doors. It is sometimes used by locksmiths or tow-truck services for that purpose.
Step 1
Slip the screwdriver or butter knife gently between the window and the rubber window seal running along the bottom of your Ford Taurus window to create a gap to work in.
Step 2
Slide the Slim Jim down between the window and rubber seal near the door lock. Make sure you slip the Slim Jim in with the notched end facing down.
Step 3
Work the Slim Jim back and forth until you feel the end of it latch onto the locking rod of the Taurus door. Once you feel it connect pull gently upward until you feel the lock click open.
