How to Turn On the Heated Mirrors on a Chevrolet Truck
by Dave Baker NYCSome Chevrolet truck models come with optional heated side-view mirrors. These mirrors have a defroster circuit on the rear of the glass. You usually control the function by engaging a switch inside the vehicle. The Chevrolet truck discussed here is a 2010 Silverado LT, but the controls are similar for other Chevy trucks. Refer to your owner's manual or a model-specific auto guide for detailed information about your particular truck.
Step 1
Get in the Chevy truck and insert your key into the ignition.
Step 2
Turn the ignition key to the "On/Run" position.
Step 3
Press and release the button on the dashboard climate control system that has the three squiggly vertical lines. This is the rear window defroster button, which also activates the heated outside mirrors. The defroster will stay on for about 10 minutes, unless you press the button again to turn it off or turn off the ignition.

Tips
- If your truck has a towing mirror, the only part of the mirror that will be heated is the top portion of the glass, not the lower convex mirror.
